Leslie Zhang is a photographer very tied to his country of origin, China, in fact in his shots there is a strong sense of cultural belonging and an exaltation of Chinese beauty. As often happens, each artist brings his native land, which not only influences the way of thinking but also that of making art: any stylistic or representative choice is unconsciously or consciously the result of a path of life, which starts from the place where we grow up. In Leslie’s case, the red color is certainly a quote to the ancient Chinese paintings, combined with a skillful compositional elegance.
The fashion industry is what the artist finds most closely related to his idea and her way of representing beauty:
“More and more so I’ve realized the things I have the deepest emotional connection to and find most beautiful, are the sentiments from my memories of growing up in China. I now try to recreate these ambiances and moods in the images I create. It’s all about portraying and celebrating the little romances in our daily life”.
Having the chance to build a scene from scratch, fashion photography allows Leslie to tell stories of everyday life with originality. You can find out his stories on the website, in the meantime take a look at the gallery below.
