Imagine if the pavilions that are being built for design weeks, design fairs or universal exhibitions were always accessible just a few kilometers from home. This is the idea behind the park that will be built just outside the Chinese city of Jiaxing: inside it there will be 11 pavilions studied and designed by some of the best architecture and design studios in the world.
Three of these pavilions have been entrusted to the designers of MADAM, an architecture and urban planning firm based in Madrid and Amsterdam, who have collaborated with the architects of HEXIA for the occasion.
The three pavilions will be located at three different points in the park and each of them has been designed to allow visitors to interact in the best possible way with the surrounding nature, without having a harmful impact on the environment.
The first of the three, the Ginko Tea House, consists of a three-storey wooden structure. For this project no tree has been cut down, on the contrary, the structure develops around them almost embracing them. This pavilion allows you to experience the forest in a particular way, looking at it from above or crossing it and, since it is a covered and closed structure, it is a perfect place to shelter from the rain, returning surrounded by greenery, but comfortably sitting on a sofa.
The second, the Ginko Swan Lake, is a pavilion that develops on the edge of the lake in the park. The peculiarity of this structure is that it is half resting on dry land, and half is semi-immersed in water. Visitors can either take advantage of the interior, which will allow them to immerse themselves in the lake, but staying dry, or take a walk on the ceiling, the perfect place for summer musical performances.
The third and last pavilion is Fisherman’s wharf, built on a small island in the middle of the lake. From this structure, which hides below ground level and seems to emerge from the grass, you can rent small boats and enjoy the beauty of the lake.
