Until a few years ago, the Spanish city of Malaga was inhabited all year round by a small fishing community. Then, with time, it became one of the first tourist destinations in the country, populating disproportionately in the summer period. Slowly, however, precisely because of this unexpected flow of people, it had to abandon its true nature, almost totally losing its fishing community.

Fascinated by all this, Austrian artist Katharina Fitz gave life to her project “Malaga – Paracosmic Houses“. It is a collection of digital collages that unite the small houses of the villages of Pedregalejo and El Palo and the landscape with the sea stretching as far as the eye can see.

What characterizes each photo is the solitude of the houses, which reflects the disappearance of the fishing community, once very numerous and alive and now completely lost.
