An hour after midnight on November 19, “NOI, LORO, GLI ALTRI” was released, the latest album by Marracash composed of 14 tracks including feats with Guè, Calcutta and Blanco.
Along with the album Marracash has also released the first video, the one for the single CRAZY LOVE, which has the visual The video directed by Giulio Rosati opens and closes with two sequences that break away from the central theme of the video, citing a 1980 performance by Marina Abramović.
Marracash and Elodie are standing in front of each other, holding an outstretched bow, with the tip of the arrow pointing towards the rapper’s chest.
The reference of this sequence is the performance “Rest Energy”, staged by the artist in Amsterdam, together with his partner Ulay. For 4 minutes the two artists held, just like in the CRAZY LOVE video, a bow held in tension by the two bodies that let themselves fall outwards. The arrow becomes danger and anguish, you can feel the fear and the instability of balance, the same that is the background of intimate relationships. In “Rest Energy” the counterweight does not console, it is the drama of entrusted love and the choice to lose part of the control over oneself. Of one’s own private space and distribution of forces, which Abramović and Ulay metaphorize in an arch.
The tension of the string in the performance is the tension of time. Two microphones were placed on Marina Abramović and Ulay’s ribs, one to listen to the other’s heartbeat, a moment that lasted only a few minutes and that the artist declared to have lasted “forever“.
Precisely the dilation of time in love, as well as battles and waiting, is one of the themes most addressed by the pair of artists. Forever is often put in relation with the present, a continuous active reflection on the role and responsibilities of the individual in the couple, central themes also in the video of CRAZY LOVE.
