It seems that Paper Art has no secrets for Patrick Cabral, a Filipino artist who has created breathtaking paper works.
After specialising in the field of calligraphy – you can see his work on his Instagram profile – he switched to paper art, initially carving letters and then moving on to more complicated and challenging subjects.
Patrick Cabral meticulously cuts hundreds of pieces of white paper by hand, which he then superimposes to form animals such as tigers, gorillas, owls, rhinos, lions and many others. His interest in the animal world led him to carry out a project in collaboration with WWF dedicated to endangered species.

In addition to white, however, Patrick Cabral has also demonstrated his ability to use coloured cardboard. His latest creations include two masks that pay homage to Filipino culture. The two artworks were commissioned by the Iloilo Museum of Contemporary Art for the Dinagyang Festival, an annual event celebrating the country’s traditions.
In this case, the figures are characterised by two different palettes, one made up only of warm colours such as red and orange representing fire and light, the other featuring shades ranging from blue to purple symbolising air and dreams.
