The body in its truest form is the main subject of Milly Cope‘s photographs. Based in London, the young photographer started shooting as a self-taught photographer and her focus immediately turned to the human body to show everyone her ideal of beauty.
Amidst all the stereotypes imposed by society, amidst the perfect models on magazine covers, amidst the photos of perfect bodies, Milly Cope’s analogue shots are a breath of fresh air. They are truth, authenticity and freedom.
Milly Cope’s celebration of beauty takes place through photographs of people in her life, but much more frequently of herself. Her self-portraits, sometimes in black and white, sometimes in colour, are so real that they seem cheeky, striking the viewer in the deepest part of their soul and making them reflect on how important it is to feel good about their bodies.
Putting herself in front of the camera and seeing herself in the photos is a way for Milly Cope to rediscover herself on a daily basis, and posting her photos on Instagram has also become a way to inspire others to accept themselves and rediscover the beauty in all of us.
We’ve selected just a few of her shots, but for more follow Milly Cope on Instagram and visit her website.
