Christmas 2021 is coming, just over a month away and then it will be all lights and packages to unwrap, whether you accept it or not, whether you identify with the Grinch or not. One of the bells that announce to us the arrival of Christmas are the advertisements. Whether it’s electronics or food, companies don’t miss an opportunity to unleash the best creative ideas, releasing commercials that accompany us throughout the month of festivities.
Coca–Cola and McDonald’s in recent years have given us adv of the highest level, and also for Christmas 2021 the commercials just presented are warm and exciting stories, in a climate of celebration and sharing, values that often return in the campaigns of the two brands.
Coca-Cola
The video is set in a condominium, a child in his apartment, along with his mother, watches TV and begins to build with some boxes and duct tape a tunnel, in which all the condominiums participate. An endless cardboard biscuit, illuminated by Christmas lights and culminating in one last box, the red Coca–Cola box. It turns out later that the conduit connects the roof of the building with the apartment of an elderly lady who lives alone. On Christmas night the lady will receive a gift with an invitation to a special dinner, a moment of sharing and joy reiterated also by the claim “The Holidays are magic when we share them”.
Mc Donald’s
The McDonald’s commercial is initially set in a house, where a little girl draws with crayons a funny blue furry creature named Iggy. Iggy turns out to be her friend, playing with the little girl and sharing small gestures, such as feeding Santa’s Reindeer.
In the meantime, the little girl grows up and starts to put aside her childhood friend, who finds less and less space until he is hidden inside the closet. A few years later, right inside a McDonald’s restaurant, the girl will remember Iggy, recovering pleasant childhood memories. Back home, opening the closet, Iggy is still there waiting for the girl, ready to spend another Christmas together.
