Without a shadow of a doubt “The Bear” is this year’s revelation series. It landed on Disney+ without too much noise on 5 October (in the US already in June) and not too slowly made its way through “Dahmer”, “House of the Dragon” and “Rings of Power” to become the “must-see” TV series in just a few weeks. 

Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) is a young chef who returns to his Chicago from the world of starred restaurants to run The Original Beef of Chicagoland, his family’s sandwich shop, following his brother’s suicide. Here he finds a mountain of debt, a dilapidated kitchen and a staff unwilling to change. In a nutshell: chaos dominates, a chaos that comes straight to the viewer through shouting, almost headache-inducing camera movements and a soundtrack that does nothing but stir up the tension. Eight episodes in which everything is so perfect as to move.
