Vinilica vol. 90 – Studio Murena

“Studio Murena composes the image of contemporary reality from the hiding place of the mezzanine, while the subway tunnels move through people like bullets. Observing the past on the one hand, anticipating the future on the other, we fall into the present… the machines, they suffer, ha!”

After this intense description you will have understood who our guests are today. One of the most promising bands with great potential that if you don’t know this time we really have to raise our voices and yell at you.
Welcome to the intricate world of lo Studio Murena, a project born in 2018 consists of five talented musicians of the conservatory: Amedeo Nan (electric guitar), Maurizio Gazzola (electric bass), Matteo Castiglioni (keyboards and synths), Marco Falcon (drums), Giovanni Ferrazzi (electronics, sampler) and the MC Carma (Lorenzo Carminati), who enriches the proposal of the group with his particular skills in composing elaborate rhymes and verses of conscious matrix.

We don’t want to scold you again but if you haven’t listened to “Studio Murena”, the eponymous, new album by the Milanese band released exactly on February 9 by Costello’s Records with The Orchard distribution, you deserve it.

With the homonymous album Studio Murena, the group confirms itself as one of the most original identities of our music scene, bringing a breath of freshness characterized by a strong jazz, funk and hip hop component in the instrumentals and source of endless experimentation that move nimbly between ambient and classic breakbeat, enriched by the rough and energetic voice of rapper Carma.

The album is the crowning achievement of a project marked by the publication of several singles during the past year. And as always, there couldn’t be without the unfailing playlist to try and connect with our guests. Here are 13 tracks to get to know Studio Murena better.

“Beautiful Collater.al! We chose these tracks because they are a summary of the individual personalities that make up Studio Murena. In each track you can hear sounds, rhythms and suggestions that we tried to capture and stop in our pieces. We owe so much to these incredible artists, enjoy!”
