As every year, Desert X‘s spectacular installations return, and after telling you about Serge Attukwei Clottey’s installation “The Wishing Well”, today we will talk about Ghada Amer.

Ghada Amer, an Egyptian artist and painter, has created “Women’s Qualities”, a work that like all the others hides a deep meaning that goes beyond the simple installation.
“Women’s Qualities” is something profound, it is an act of looking both inside and outside, producing a form of self-portrait, without any person really being portrayed.

Through a few simple words such as, “Resilient, strong, caring, determined, beautiful, loving and nurturing,” the artist is asking the men and women of the Coachella Valley to share words that describe the qualities they identify with and have been credited with over time.

The installation forms a meeting place where artist and community, aesthetics and ideology, nature and culture come together to reflect and contemplate. Here are all the photos of Ghada Amer’s “Women’s Qualities” for Desert X 21.
