Don’t be fooled, although Xinxin Zhang specialises in portraits, the real star of her shots is light.

Xinxin Zhang is a promising young Chinese photographer who lives between Shanghai and New York, but is currently based in Hong Kong. She has already collaborated with various international publications such as Vulkan Magazine, Solstice Magazine, AINT-BAD Magazine, Bello Magazine, and Ellement Magazine.

Her photographs are modern and her portraits go far beyond simple photos of faces. The models she photographs play with external elements, such as an apple or water, and the faces are often hidden or blurred.

The fil rouge of Xinxin Zhang’s photographic production is light. Used in a cinematic way and playing with different colours, the photographer tries to create a balance between light and shadow, the same balance that we find in the concept of Yin and Yang.
