In Venice, during this year’s 81st International Film Festival, there’s also a piece of Artissima—this time in collaboration with Juventus—with Il Tappeto Verde (The Green Carpet), a short film by Yuri Ancarani (born in Ravenna in 1972), presented in a three-stop tour. It premiered at the Giffoni Film Festival last July, followed by today’s screening at the Venice Film Festival in the Sala Laguna, as part of a day of activities organized by Juventus at La Villa—powered by Giffoni Hub. The tour will conclude in Turin during Artissima 2024, on the first weekend of November. The theme of this year’s Artissima is “The Era of Daydreaming,” so let’s see how it connects to Ancarani’s short film.
The title Il Tappeto Verde (The Green Carpet) alludes to the image of a magic carpet from fairy tales, an element capable of evoking «the football field as a perimeter of possibilities, where hopes and desires intertwine in a kaleidoscope of emotions and expectations,» as stated in the press release. The short film features former Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio and is set at the Allianz Stadium. It reflects on children’s innate ability to dream big and the responsibility of adults to protect, respect, and support these dreams, thus tying into the theme of the upcoming edition of Artissima.
This production celebrates one of the world’s most important sports, a passion that unites generations of children worldwide, reinterpreted through the universal language of cinema and contemporary art. The goal seems to be to bring an increasingly broad audience closer to the world of art, creating a path that will lead up to the opening of Artissima.
