The Met in New York after five months of forced closure due to the pandemic has reopened presenting the beautiful new installation by Hèctor Zamora “Lattice Detour”.

A controversial and thought-provoking work, just as the country is preparing for the next presidential elections, the Mexican artist has reproduced a real wall, like the one Trump would want at the border.

The roof of the Metropolitan Museum of Art will host Zamora’s work, made of Mexican terracotta bricks, also made by Mexican and Latin American workers, until December 7. The fellow citizens of those same individuals who every year, by the thousands, seek a better future in the United States.

Each brick has been positioned so that the public can see through them, almost as if to suggest the idea of being able to observe an elsewhere. In addition, depending on the time of day, when the sun illuminates the installation perpendicularly, the shadow traces a reproduction of itself on the ground.
