The artist Luna Ikuta removed the color and chlorophyll from the flowers to immortalize them in a water garden, using California poppies, replaced the bright orange of the petals with beautiful transparency. Luna Ikuta has developed a unique method to isolate the extracellular tissue matrix from the cells of the flowers. The process leaves the morphology of the plants intact, stripping the shade and chlorophyll to make the plants transparent.
Then the artist immersed the flowers come underwater to create a mystical and ghostly aquatic landscape that invites the viewer to immerse themselves in a spiritual world of the “living” dead.
