MAR – Art Museum of the city of Ravenna, on the occasion of its exhibition Un’Epopea POP, the third of the project “Dante. Gli occhi e la mente” dedicated to Dante Alighieri, will host Sacral, the art work made by Edoardo Tresoldi in 2016.
Within the path of the exhibition, the work has in fact a link with the Divina Commedia, poem written by the poet buried in the Italian city. In particular, the typical skeleton of Tresoldi’s installations refers, in the vision of the curator Giorgia Salerno, to the theme of souls and the Castle of the Great Spirits, described by Dante in the Canto IV of the Inferno, in which live the spirits of historical figures of the past, pagans and therefore not destinated to salvation.

The cloister of MAR, the set of the installation, is an extremely suggestive place, in dialogue with Sacral, a non-place, an absent space defined only through the elaboration of codes and forms of the architectural language. What remains is a sort of time travel, inside which one can physically go in, experiencing the sense of suspension of the souls described by Dante.
“An archetypal image able to create a dialogue between past and present through a language made up of meanings that return in time. Sacral presents itself as the memory of a place already met, a familiar image that introduces the visitor to Dante’s path”. As stated by the artist

The work of Tresoldi, a Milanese artist among the most appreciated in the world, will be visible from September 1st until the end of the exhibition, January 9th.
