KFC has borrowed the slogans of other brands

With the outbreak of Covid-19 many brands had to reinvent themselves, not only to keep their customers loyal, but also to update their global communication. Among them, KFC was also involved in a rebranding and, in addition to seeing most of its stores closed, it also had to pause its main campaign slogan, namely “It’s Finger Lickin’ Good“.
This famous slogan, more than 64 years old, becomes wildly inappropriate in a pandemic context where personal hygiene is an urgent matter. So, to counteract a year-long hiatus, Mother London‘s new campaign tried to find a solution. KFC has donned the shoes of other brands, unceremoniously stealing even the slogans of its competitors.

The artworks of this new advertising stunt simply show KFC’s basket of chicken wings refined with various recognisable phrases borrowed from other brands.
Fraom Snickers “You’re Not You When You’re Hungry”, from Tesco “Every Little Helps”, from Johnson’s Baby Shampoo “No More Tears”, from Marmite “You Either Love It Or Hate It”, from Ronseal “Does Exactly What It Says on the Tin“, and even from riva McDonald’s “I’m Lovin’ It“. Of these, L’Oréal “Because You’re Worth It” e Red Bull “Gives You Wings” look very real.

The effect is hilarious, but it remains to be seen whether this is technically a legal action. However, KFC’s marketing director reassures everyone: it’s an April Fools’ Day that will only last 48 hours.
