Joe Perri, an American photographer, has dedicated his research to the capital of Mexico, creating his immersive project Mexico City. The combination of vegetation and urban chaos immediately caught the attention of the photographer, who decided to play with contrasts and visual combinations: both in terms of content and lights.

Modern architecture coexists with ancient buildings, just as the elderly find themselves with the young, and it almost seems that the entire city lives in a timeless dimension. Chaos is beauty and Joe captures it in everything, proposing a total vision of the urban context, which treats small and large things, people and plants alike. As the artist tells us:

“I soon realized that this complex and constantly evolving megalopolis is a study of contrasts and fascination, and there I found harmony between all”.

For a New Yorker like Joe the comparison with his city came naturally: in Mexico City everything flows more slowly, with less frenzy and this makes the rhythms of the megalopolis much more livable.
