Photographer Sara Rinaldi (1990) bases her research on reflections related to identity, with a particular focus on the new generations. Her shots are often linked to bodily manifestations, reflecting the weight of an evanescent, precarious and unstable contemporary. Uncertainty weighs inexorably on the latest generations, governed by wavering hopes and an almost inevitable disillusionment. The disillusionment to which we become accustomed wears down the body, a mirror and container of broken dreams but which, at the same time, is more self-aware and able to define itself in a layered way, compared to previous generations. The pendulum, in fact, swings between the feeling of deception and the consciousness of being able to reshape that future which, at times, may appear as decided and unchangeable. The body molds itself to the contour, modifies and evolves in a socio-environmental context in perpetual attack and contradiction.
In Sara Rinaldi’s work entitled “2050,” selected for the second edition of Liquida photofestival in Turin, a woman is captured from behind caught in an intimate moment, with a towel on her head and her bare back showing signs of tanning. With a preponderant play of light and shadow, Sara Rinaldi investigates a moment of suspension in which emotional intentions are not clear but rather, reconfirm the emotional precariousness described.
