In the province of Cuneo, in the Alta Langa area, there is Mombarcaro, a town dating back to the 17th century from which it is possible to see the Ligurian Sea on the horizon. One of the hamlets of this municipality is called Lunetta, a name that derives from the arrangement of the houses in the shape of a waning moon, and since 2014 has undergone a considerable transformation thanks to a family from Turin that has converted this place into an active reality in the world of contemporary art. Thus, in 2019 the Lunetta11 project was born with the aim of shedding light on new generations of artists, presenting their works in a unique context, surrounded by nature.

The title of this year’s exhibition is “Abitiamo il mondo” and will feature the works and creations of 5 young artists including street artist Solomostry. 

For the exhibition in Mombarcaro, Solomostry has worked and revisited an object with centuries of history, a symbol of countries, organizations and currents of thought, the flag.

“The flag is the strong point, an element in which we can recognize ourselves, what makes us stay united and become a group, be part of a movement, represent it”.

The monstrous faces typical of Solomostry’s artistic production invade the flags becoming symbols and banners of a march that aims to open new roads, new worlds, new imagery. 

“If once from Mombarcaro you looked and controlled the whole valley until you reached the sea, now the valley will have to raise its head and look at Mombarcaro.”
