Born in Poland, Axel, the stage name for Marta Slawinska, works and lives in Berlin. Her passion for drawing developed in different fields, starting to work as an illustrator of book covers, CDs and various publications. Today she is one of the most well-known tattoo artists in Germany.

Her style is minimal, she plays with geometric shapes and lines, also using blackwork and dotwork motifs. Her art is influenced by the lightness and abstract beauty of the ancient arts. The use of dots allows her to create sophisticated shades ranging from black to an infinite grey scale. Axel’s tattoos are poetic, dreamlike and exciting.
