Taking night photos with your smartphone? With Xiaomi, it’s no problem

Probably, you believe that the smartphone you own is perfect for taking photos in any situation. Xiaomi brought us all the way to Berlin to show us that this is not the case. You might think that’s impossible because you chose it carefully, and it’s never let you down during trips, parties with friends, or at restaurants. Maybe that’s true, but have you ever tried to take a good photo at night? Of a neon sign, a 24-hour open venue, or even the moon? You’ve definitely tried, but don’t say the pictures turned out great (the Instagram profile @_foto_di_merda_alla_luna proves the point).

The New Xiaomi 14T Series

With the aim of offering an unprecedented photography experience even at night, on September 26th in Berlin, Xiaomi introduced the new Xiaomi 14T Series, which includes the Xiaomi 14T and Xiaomi 14T Pro. Both smartphones feature an elegant design that merges aesthetics and functionality, from the front curvature that enhances comfort and grip to the metal frame that adds a luxurious touch. Not to mention the color options: the 14T Pro is available in Titan Gray, Titan Blue, and Titan Black, while the 14T offers the same colors plus a Lemon Green variant.

Xiaomi and Leica Redefine Night Photography

For this launch, Xiaomi has once again collaborated with Leica to offer an exceptional photography experience. The Xiaomi 14T Pro is equipped with a versatile triple camera system featuring five focal lengths ranging from 15mm to 120mm, while the Xiaomi 14T has a triple camera system with three lenses covering four focal lengths from 15mm to 100mm. But how can it achieve such high performance at night? It’s all thanks to Xiaomi AISP, an AI-based computational photography platform powered by FusionLM, which enhances dynamic range and reduces noise to deliver outstanding details and vivid colors, even in challenging lighting conditions.

Not Just Leica, But Google Too

For this 14T Series, Xiaomi didn’t just partner with Leica but also strengthened its collaboration with Google, integrating AI at various levels. The “Circle to Search with Google” feature was introduced, allowing you to circle an image or a word to search for it on Google. Additionally, Google Gemini comes pre-installed on all devices, ready to assist with virtually anything, from writing to information searching and even agenda planning. Of course, AI also helps in the photography field, particularly during the post-production phase.

The Xiaomi Master Class Celebrates Night Heroes

To demonstrate that the devices of the new 14T Series are the best choice if you’re looking for a smartphone that can capture all your important moments, no matter the time of day, the new Xiaomi Master Class launched the “Night Heroes” project, a photographic journey celebrating the protagonists of the night. Three photographers, Holly-Marie Cato (UK), Tabea Magdalena Martin (Austria), and Fabien Ecochard (France), tested their 14T Pros and showcased their work during the Berlin launch event.

It was interesting to see how, despite using the same device, each photographer chose a different approach. Holly-Marie Cato opted for a more documentary and emotional style, drawing inspiration from people and their stories. Tabea Magdalena Martin set up a real photoshoot with different sets, while Fabien Echochard relied entirely on the street and its elements.

Thus, Xiaomi, together with Leica, redefines the concept of mobile photography, especially in low-light and dark environments, without losing image sharpness or the vibrancy of colors.
